First Direct Offset Mortgage Review
first direct
First Direct offers a range of offset mortgages to suit people in different circumstances. The First Direct offset mortgage is available in both variable and fixed varieties and the bank has recently introduced some long term fixed deals. Here's what First Direct mortgage offset deals offer.
First Direct Offset Mortgage
First Direct Offset Mortgages are available in fixed and variable rates with each deal offering different rates and different associated costs. First Direct will only deal with consumers direct via their telephone queuing system so applicable rates and charges will have to be attained directly. As with most mortgage providers there will be a list of fees payable and they can include valuation fees, lenders arrangement fees, legal fees and others.
First Direct will also be able to provide you with their current deals and APR’s but their call centre will not be able to compare their deals against others in the market – unlike a mortgage broker. With a variety of deals available from the offset market place it will be advisable to compare any rates given to you from First Direct with those available from the competition – Call us know to make this comparison on your behalf – Remember, we charge no fees so all that we can do is waste 10 minutes of your time by making sure you have the best deal available for your circumstances.
To be eligible for the First Direct offset mortgage you need to:
- agree a mortgage of at least £30,000
- be aged 18 or over
- open a first direct 1st Account if you don't already have one
- the offset Mortgage must, in all cases, be in the same name(s) as the property ownership, maximum of two people. Property ownership where three or more names appear on the register do not qualify for an offset Mortgage.
First Direct will normally lend up to 80% of the value of your property but in certain circumstances they can lend up to 90% of the value of your property. If you choose to borrow above 80% then you will be required to make capital repayments every month and will not be able to redraw any capital repaid.
However, please note that The Offset Mortgage Centre cannot advise on or arrange mortgages from First Direct.
